    I've got a beautiful betta female that has developed swim bladder disease and the s-shape that goes along with it. I've had her since she was a baby so it's not genetic.

    I've read up on the disease and saw that constipation can cause this and that bettas should not be fed flake foods. Since she's in a community tank flake foods may just be the cause as well as overfeeding because she can eat as much as she can manage while the other fish feed.

    I caught her and put her into a breeding net (don't have another tank available in which to isolate her) and did not feed her for two days. This morning I fed her a bit of pealed pea.

    The s-shape has drastically reduced but she still rests a lot at the bottom of the net. She comes up immediately when I go to talk to her and I'm wondering if I should return her to the tank. Would a bit of "being active" not also aid with the digestion?

    Should I add rooibos to the tank and then not feed the tank for a day or two as well?

    @Dinky that is what I would do. But keep her separate for another day at least - so that she can heal without being bugged by others.

    I dont think IMO and experience that flake food is a roblem, but rather the quality of flake food you feed.

    @HennieRoux

    I only feed Tetra products to my fish. A variety of the following:

    TetraMin (Flakes)
    Prima Mini Granules
    Prima
    Tetra Pro Colour (Multi Crisps)

    I feed that along with a variety of frozen foods once or twice a week. Is there any other brands that I should consider?

    @Wyvren - thank you, will do. She's a lot more active this afternoon and has started to respond to the other fish swimming around the net. I'm hoping she will be her old self really soon.

    Maybe just change your flakes, not saying your brand is bad, but just try, fast him 1 - 2 days a week, and remember cure is better then prevention, give your bettas some roughage once in 2 weeks, that piece of pea.
