I've been using that from the beginning, no issues yet. I've also used their Complete fertiliser with some pretty good success.

Try the one Tetra makes. 5ml for every 10l water. I use Sera Aquatan, 5ml for every 20l water so in the long run it lasts longer but retails for around R125 for 250ml. Tetra is pretty cheap and easily available at spar if you urgently need some. Retails for about R30 for 100ml.

If you want bang for buck, Seachem is the way to go, but not Prime. Use Seachem Safe - you use 1mg per litre, which means if you buy the smallest bottle (at around R150 for 50 grams, you can treat 50 000 litres. That's 30c per 100 litres treated.

For comparison, Tetra Aquasafe 250ml retails for the same(ish) price as Seachem Safe 50g, but only treats a total of 500 litres. That's R30 per 100 litres treated.

Granted, Tetra says it has a whole host of other goodies in the mixture (from vitamins to biofilter benefits), but I'd argue that it isn't something needed of a dechlorinator.

I will swing a negative point to Seachem Safe on two fronts for a sake of fairness. [1] It needs to be dissolved properly, which requires extra agitation and mixture on your part to ensure it works (it is a solid powder, after all) and [2] it can go "off", especially in humid environments where moisture can get into the mix. This means it's best suited for large volume water changes where you'd use it more frequently, otherwise take precautions to keep the powder dry. Mine stays good for months on end with the right precautions, though.

If the last part is a worry for you, even sticking with Seachem Prime is still a better bet [for calculation purposes, a 50ml will treat 2000 litres, at approximately R5 per 100 litres treated].

I mix my own sodium thiosulfate, doesn't treat chloramines though.

Migrated from Prime to Safe months ago and so far so good. Goes a looong way.

The Scape Dechlorination retails for about R160, and treats 25 000 litres of water from a 500ml bottle. That works out to R1 per 156 litres. Not as cheap as Seachem Safe, but a lot cheaper than Seachem Prime. It's a pump (1ml) per 50 litres of water

From my experience Seachem safe seems to work out the cheapest in the long run.
