    Hey guys

I need a decently priced LED for my tank. It need only be a small light because the tank is a corner unit roughly 80L 45x45x90cm...
The LED i had inside got a little wet and now it won't work properly. I am wondering if there are any cheap submersible LEDs

    Hello

    What do you consider cheap?
Cause I bought a 5W led that's definitely submersible (it fell into the water once and still works perfectly) but it was R295..

Those above are waterproof for a while until the silicon/sealer they use starts shrinking- used one on my tank and after a while start getting moisture within the cover and then the leds started flickering.

They do provide good light tho for its size and spec

Now I am in the market for another light as my tank is also planted and the plants are taking strain.

This is the exact issue I am faced with that has brought me to purchase a new one...
A mate suggested using a silicone sealant on it..

There are quite a few of us haha.

P.S. Ended up popping out to KOI LKG (Boksburg). Picked up a little submersible for R117. Always top service there.

I use a Flash floodlight 20W that I got from my local hardware shop for +- R160
Super bright and has a water resistant rating, though probably not fully submersible...

I was also thinking of getting me flood lights for my tank. But not sure how to secure them so they don't drop in the water. Can you maybe share a picture as to how you fixed it to the aquarium?

I currently have it mounted like this, very getto, i know. (window blind is usually closed)
Plan on building a nicer wooden box and suspending it from the roof. Some people say a large pvc gutter can also work.

This is a great help to me. How deep is your tank and what wattage floodlights are you using? K rating?

tank is about 38cm deep and i use the 20W version x2. More than enough at rated 1500 lumens per light, but there are larger W versions if you need more light. You just have to wire the plugs yourself.

    Thanks Jandre.

My tank is about the same depth with substrate in. Do you think two 10watt spots would work?

Yeah, for most low tech plants. If you want to do carpeting plants or anything that demands light, I would go with 20 W lights or higher.
