The shrimp eggs in my refrigerator (deep freeze) is more than 36 years old (I got 5l of them at R600 in 1974) and never before have I had such excellent hatching percentage from them as now.... I feed up to 5 times from one setup and up to about 4 days after the initial setup... (hatch about a teaspoon full at a time)

And, in addition to this, I'm hatching them in 14 year old seawater that's been standing outside in 500ml plastic bottles (in the sun & weather).... In the past, I managed one feeding 24 hours after putting them up and if I kept them up for longer than that... the water just fouled and developed a rotten odour.

Like good wine???... Matures with age???.... I wonder if they could be kept indefinitely???

You'll find that they'll be able to last for extremely long periods of time under most conditions, provided no moisture gets to them. I wonder how the freezing helped, though.

WoW! These buggers are older than me!

Well they've been in the Deepfreeze all of that time... it said so on the container, so I just did it.... every so often, I just pour myself a peanut butter jar full out and keep that in the fridge... etc... etc.... (I,m a bit worried, cause I have only one jar full left..... If it was R600 in 1974.... What will I pay now for 5 liters of the stuff.... I do not even want to think about it!.... (I bought a brand new VW Beetle in 1971 for R1,500 - still have it) so comparatively???
