Sorry I see you have a cage on the left but not the one on the right? Only reason I ask is because 1 of my fish got lodged in an unprotected intake. Also try to keep the air stone away from the intake as air will get into your filter.

Maybe since you have 2 of the same cannisters you could combine them like I did?

How is that setup going/holding on? I am thinking about it but know the Pro's & Con's...My setup pump 1 inlet is low & outlet high...Pump 2 inlet is high & outlet low......all at the back, inlets & outlets oposite from each other...The heater is also in the inlet sides to pump in/take in the new water & the airstone I put right at the bottom of the outlets for max bubbles blow away

I am using 2 different cannisters with different flow rates. At the moment I have just combined the intakes. No leaks great flow.

Combined the inlets with with a t-piece that splits from the intake/tank to the separate pumps? Did you do the same with the outlets?

Don't think this is optimal for flow on the same diameter of pipe or even ideal on a bigger intake pipe unless the you are drawing water from an overflow of sorts. Think of it this way, the two pumps are now competing to get a share of the water that is available on the single intake pipe that is in the tank.

I would also leave the two out-flows separate since that is the easiest way to see that one of the filters are clogged, has reduced flow or not working at all. a a hard plumbed single out-flow is going to make this very difficult to spot.

My thinking behind it is that the pumps in the cannister push water from the cannister to the tank and the cannister would therefore be sucking water in due to the vacuum created. My intake pipe from the tank for that reason is larger than the intake pipes on the cannister to assist with some pressure. My other reason for doing it is I don't like seeing too many pipes in the tank
