Its come to my attention that there are an incredible ammount of books out there, and a good few of them have discrepencies in their info.... So, my question is....

Which books are best for info on species? I have been using 'an illustrated guide' by mary bailey or gina sandford. Can't remember which one right now, but find it only covers very few species. And sometimes the info it provides is not found to be true.

What species list type books do you guys recommend?

I'd be interested in a loaches and catfish specific book/s as well!

Obviously, with the number of species out there, not everyone is going to be included, but I'm sure there are books with more species than the ones I currently have!

If you can help, it would be appreciated!

    Cheers
    Big G!

one of my personal favourites is Handbook of Tropical Aquarium Fishes by Dr Herbert R Axelrod.

It used to be available locally - I got mine about 17 Years ago from an LFS - and it covers many many species with species description, aquarium requirements, diseases, plants and detailed breeding info with lots of pics...

No, I had no idea he was in prison. But according to the wiki link it is for Tax, not for the contents of his books...
