    Hi all!

    I'm very excited to jump into this hobby and as a newbie I have purchased myself a 30litre tank which I am planning on planting

    What would be good begginer plants to place In a tank size like mine ( I have no Co2 running and I'm using langa aquarium soil. The light is a 50w Led )

    Thanks

    I would go for something like Cryptocoryne Wendtii Brown.

    Another easy plant to grow in your substrate would be Limnophila Aromatica.

    Amazon Swords are very easy to grow, but most of them can become huge.
    The Echinodorus Ozelot Red and Green remain smaller however.

    For added foliage Bolbitis Heudolotii attached to a piece of driftwood would look great.
    The leaves will remain much smaller without the addition of CO2, but should you add CO2 the plant will grow quite large.

    Various Anubias can also be attached to driftwood or rocks.
    I prefer the Anubias Nana Petite and Micro, as they remain much smaller than the other varieties.
    They grow especially well in the shade of other plants, like the Bolbitis.

    Java Fern remains popular, although it can look untidy at times.

    @f-fish

    I'm going to go out on a limb and guess this will create algae problems

    Well it is a challenge ... algae depending on the lighting period - maybe the 50w is perfect for say only 4 hours a day ... bigger concern would be heat if it is mounted close to the water surface.

    I would try and add some CO2 with that amount of light.
