Hi all, thought it about time to introduce myself. Some members here might know me from the sister site MASA. I have decided to branch out to FW aquaria as well for the business and thus have the opportunity for a personal tank at home.

My plans are as follows, any input would be appreciated:

    Tank 1100 x 500 x 600
Being marine aquaria orientated I firmly believe in a sump to increase water volume and hide equipment so I will add a sump of 1000 x 450 x 450.
Will also add a dual media reactor to house carbon / Brightwells organit R& Brightwells Nirat R.
Filter Eheim 2224 I still have from my oscar breeding days
    Lights combination of 54 W T5 & LED

Idea is a planted setup so will add CO2 as the need arises.

Fish , mmmm angels are a favourite but due to their nature of uprooting plants I might give them a miss so thinking some Apistos for a start (if anyone has some extras swimming around please let me know)

Thanks to Henk in the meantime for his help and input

    Thanx Vis

Thanx Khalid, Substrate will be palmpeat , capped with pool filter sand. Plants I am really still researching / planning as I would like to have a proper biotype setup. Also not a guru on FW plants (being mostly marine orientated...)

    Hi.

    Welcome.

    Just a note:
My german rams uproot my plants more than my angels.
They are breeding and is hiding the fry in holes. :)
But this is only a problem with my newly planted plants. Should not bother an established plant.

IMO angels are fine with plants.Never had a problem before.

Post some progress pics as you setup your tank.

German rams love to pull out small ground cover plants, especially if they stick out of the substrate just a little.

hi and welcome, if you are going the sump root, why add the extra filter. just divide your sump accordingly for filter media/ bio balls etc.

Welkom Frans. Hope you enjoy the Tropical side.
Angels will be fine with plants. New Young angels added after the plants, will not be a problem. Need some? I do have some extra baby angels, from good stock, if you need any!

    Gert.

    Ok so it has started.

Cleaned out the old maine tank to get rid of coraline algea. Soaked the palm peat and added that as a bottom layer. Also got some Microbelift Concentrated Aquatic Planting Media from a supplier and mixed it with the peat ( love using microbelift products) and topped with playsand.

    Now filling with RO .......

Probably more from habit than anything else (coming from marine we do everything with RO), but seriously I always have a lot of RO around and prefer using RO as I then know whats going into my tanks.

Also use RO on all my client's tanks
