    Hello everyone,

I have recently been given some rock which I was told is basaltic lava rock. If it passes the vinegar test, and goes through a vigorous cleaning, will it be safe for use in freshwater aquarium?

I have read that it is inert, but having no first hand experience, I was hoping someone might know?[IMG]

Yes, lava rock is safe for tanks
Do the viniger test anyway for peace of mind but small pieces of lava rock are also often used as filter media
