    Hi guys.

    Need some help.

Have a ballast that works with a 15wt tube.
It has not been working for a week now.
So yesterday I bought a 18wt tube and it does not work.
The ballast is the old heavy type.
I tought the bulb should work on it, but it does not.

Could anyone advise me if they suspect the ballast or the bulb to be at fault

    Thanks.

Chuck the ballast and buy the new Electronic balast and T5 Globe.
The ballast is the most likely culprit here.

have you guys forgotten the starter units used in ballasts???!!! buy yourself a new starter unit and then check. if it does turn out to be the ballast, then you have only wasted R2-50...and then you get to use it on your other ballasts to test for issues...

Thanks for the advice. Bought a new ballast. Cost me R150. Its an electronic type. Its rated 40wt. Tried it in the pet shop. It works on a 10wt bulb. Also works on my 15wt and my 18wt bulb. Make of ballast is aquah2o. Will let you guys know if it damages the bulb in the long run. For now I'm very happy with it.
