Hi i have 2 bala sharks and i know that they don't breed easily in home aqauriums or so i've heard, mine is about 15cm female i think coz other one about 7cm keeps chasing the big one and brushing against the big one. Can this be an indication that if smaller one is male that he wants to breed?

Not inpossible but unlikely as sexual maturity is at 20cm plus.

i think that is more about a display of dominance.

does this happen more frequently at feeding time?

my two bigger bala sharks were at it all the time, even to the point where you saw fin separation start to happen, till i added tinfoils and they calmed down.

    the behavior stopped immediately.

you should have more than 2 of these fish as they are shoaling fish.

minimum 5 bala sharks and they'll need swimming room.

what size tank do you have?

It's on and off and at feeding time they are normall again.

This doesn't happen to often but see them doing that for the past 3 days now.

    Tank size is 125 x 46 x 50

Is tank big enough to add 1 or 2 more sharks?

i think you should add a few more bala sharks: tinfoils, silver dollars or rosy barbs (if you can find them) would make a big difference in making them calm down. the only downside to adding tinfoil barbs is that they get massive very quickly.

i think silver dollars and rosy barbs max out at about 15cm but that would be perfect.

remember that bala sharks are shoaling fish while tinfoil barbs, silver dollars and rosy barbs are true schooling fish and need minimum 5, preferably 7 in a group.

slightly OT, has anyone noticed that there hasnt been rosy barbs at lps's for months now?

plenty of golden barbs around tho..
