Quick question, are you sure it's a normal pleco and not an ancistrus or bristlenose pleco?

Because if it is an ancistrus it doesn't get that big and shouldn't really be munching your plants that heavily.

I am sad to announce that Mr Pleco has passed away......

It seems I have white spot...... =-( so I will have to dose for that, clean my gravel and do another water change this weekend. Did one on Sunday night.

I have another question........I rescued a n Golden apple snail out of my brother in laws tank......he was just lying on his shell in their tank and not really moving. When I put him in mine on the weekend he was doing well and still is. On the right hand side of his shell it is cracked and look as if his shell is disintegrating ( I got him like this) what can I do to make him better? The top of his shell is shedding layers so his shell is becoming white here and there.

The other Golden apple snails is still in their tank and I want to put him in with the rescued one aswell, my brother in law and his girlfriend doesnt do water changes often so it really breaks my heart so maybe I will be moving the 2nd one over to my tank tonight.

    What do you guys think?

You'd better treat as soon as possible then. Prolly be too late if you wait for the weekend. Can you get some Seachem Paraguard? You can treat the whole tank without destroying the filter bed then.

It's often triggered by stress such as extreme temperatures. Could also be that the fish have lost their resistance to diseases and parasites due to poor water quality or diet.

Ich is introduced via new fish or plants, Its not something that can just pop-up at random. Paragaurd is a good product and will clear it in no time.

By raising your temperature to 30 - 31 degrees c, that alone can eradicate the fungus. Hope all goes well... p.s. sorry about your plec

Ick is a bacteria with different life stages. Just pushing temp up will kill one stage but not all. Best I can recommend is doing partial water changes and gravel vac daily. Add a bit of Aquarium salt. It helps kill the free swimming stage of the bacteria. Can stay active for 5 days so your gonna have to run at 28-30 degrees for 10 days

Raising the temp mostly just speeds up the life cycle of ich. If treated with a medication it usually lasts about a week. Its also not a fungus but a parasite.

Ick has various life stages, one of which is free floating in the water. It needs to find a new host before it starves. Raising the temp increases its metabolism, thereby making it starve quicker and lowering the chance of infecting aanother fish. That is why you increase the temperature.
