Are there any snails blacklisted?

Hi.

I am sure there should be some, but the only snails I could find that are listed, is Marbled Tadpole Snails (Aplexa Marmorata), Amphibious Pond Snails (Lymnaea Columella) and Quilted Melania Snails (Tarebia Granifera).

What about Apple Snails? Or Assassins? Or Ramshorns?

 

Hi @Jaco83 - Yes I believe all aquatic snails are blacklisted... however they are known hitchhikers....

 

Thanx! So "finding" them in your tank is accepted, but selling them is a no-no...

 

Ok, so i did a lot of reading, and went over the latest specie blacklist that was gazetted, and seems only 2 types of snails are blacklisted. Which is weird, because I can image the damage some these guys can do...

It seems to refer to the common pond snails, or snails we know as pond snails.

Here is the complete 2004 Government Gazette relating to Invasive and Alien species.
I don't see any mention of Cardina, Neocardina or any other type of shrimp.

The law on Assassins are that If you breed them locally , you may sell them. No Imports of Assassins.

 

So basically the same as for shrimp.
