So, I got a 90 cm tank with rummy noses, x-rays and black widows and all of them are PIGS! Everytime they see me they charge to the front looking for food. And when they had more than enough food they think I should give them more! So an hour ago I found some larva and decided to treat them. But when I put them in the tank the fishes did not came. I thought the temprerature was not right but its 26C. Then I thought perhaps my fish is sick and I started to look for them. They are behind my plants, the whole lot of them. But my rummy noses still have their red noses and they don`t seem stressed. They are only VERY thick. So I assume they are spawning. They stay behind the plants, all te fishes but mainly the rummy noses and the x-rays. It seems to me they may releasing eggs but they won`t come out!

Egg scatterers will spawn your tank on a freeaquant basis....you should be able to see it clearly as they rub up against each other in a quick action, female then releases the eggs 5-15 @ a time....so if they are hiding all the time, there is a problem, if it only hapens from time to time they might be spawning, but like I said, you should be able to witness this.

It seems that rummynoses generally spawn first thing in the morning. From my experience they lay only a few eggs at a time that drift to the bottom. They are sort of vaguely orange in colour and less than a millimetre in diameter. I don't know how you'd catch them, or if they maybe need a low pH to hatch. Mine like to spawn up against the filter pump, but I don't expect any fry to result.

Yes the only way to hatch these is in their own tank, after spawning remove the adults, 2 ways that work is the marble method or the mesh method ad the bottom of the tank so the adults cannot eat the eggs.
