    Cool tip for if you don’t have aquasoil substrate but want to grow one or two more demanding root feeders

    Thought the same thing when I saw that. 40% Of a good tank design is having nice hardscape materials to work with and I see such good stuff abroad in videos - especially stone.
    Jealous! I may have rocks and wood to declare on my next round trip abroad :D

    My first post :)

    Might not be aquascaping, but this series has inspired me to start a Betta Aquaponics setup;

    Hallo @vozzy and welcome to TASA! Really cool, thanks for sharing the vid. Hope to see you and the other Capetonians at our meetup 16 Nov!

    Why don’t you start a thread (under members setups) to introduce yourself and track the progress of your tank?

    Welcome to TASA!

    I'm also going to be setting up a betta tank! Hopefully a no-filter setup too. I have a whole bunch of plants if you'd like to trade cuttings?

    See you around!

    Yep he’s won several titles over the last couple of years! Very impressive track record, hey?

    My mind is reeling from that vid and the Congo tank...

    Towards the end he says the only reason he used aquasoil at all (under the sand) is to drop the pH and leach nutrients into the water column (the latter lasts only a couple of weeks anyhow). With our soft Cape Town water plus root tabs and water column ferts I reckon with his plant choices one can get away with pfs.
