Hey guys and girls. Hope you are well and safe during the lock down. After inadvertently posting in someone else's thread {sorry}, I was advised to start a new thread... So here I am! Just before lockdown I managed to get my hands on an aquael brillux tank and decided to create an aqua scape of sorts... It's not Instagram worthy but having a great time looking after it... Residents: pair of guppies that just had babies, pair khuli loach, one hillstream loach, feather fin catfish, 4 red nose somethings and 10 cherry shrimp. [IMG]

@t guppy thanks! I'm trying, enjoying creating a habitat for these busy creatures. I also have a few cherry shrimp in there.

Do you think adding co2 is advisable? [IMG]

That feather fin catfish will most likely get big enough to eat all your shrimp and might try mess with your other fish.

Don’t think CO2 should be necessary with those plants, nice low tech jungle

Thank you everyone. So honestly, I got into this aquarium hobby after being told its a great way to refocus negative energy into something productive. I guess I was just really stressed at work etc... So when I initially got started, I googled stuff day and night because I wanted it to be perfect. Also petshops I went to didn't advise me correctly because I also had a siamese fighter in here but he ate some of the shrimp then he died after getting bloated. The feather fin was tiny and was told he would not get big... In just three months he is about 10 to 12cm long. So some petshops unfortunately are not the best places to get advice.

Most petshops kind of want you to eventually come back and get another or bigger tank. When I was working for one I tried my best to tell people how big each fish got, their care requirements and what the could go with but at the end of the day it was up to them to chose what they wanted.

Welcome to the forum! I'm super partial to low tech jungles (I have 2) and I started much like you...with a betta and a need to de-stress. Hope your'e enjoying the hobby and that its bringing you that much-needed peace. I love that tank-never seen them here but the footprint is lovely. I'd add a fat bunch of Anubias there glued to the driftwood. I don't know why, but every low tech jungle needs a big-ass bunch of anubis barteri in there IMHO :)
