I believe there is none in SA.
Is anyone working on such a idea?
Does anyone get monthly mags from abroad?

Here we get The Fishkeeper magazine. It's the SA one but it doesn't have any useful info about tropical fish. It seems to focus mainly on marines and koi.

The Fishkeeper isn't really only marine... I write some of the freshwater articles for the magazine (which IMO gets some fair share of pages in the mag), not to mention nearly all the Tetra Expert stuff is on freshwater subjects.

There was a second fishkeeping magazine due to come out but it never saw release, and I don't think it will considering that it was due to come out over 6 months ago. No updates on it's site either.

I get "Aquarium Fish International" from the US. I find it quite informative, but lately they've been expanding their Marine section at the cost of freshwater articles.

Subscription costs are on a par with local magazines.

They have an interesting website too: http://www.fishchannel.com

I personally found the magazine to be rather pathetic. Bought it once... and the only article I actually enjoyed was one written by Tim. Chucked it out. Never again!

I get 2 international mags. Tropical Fish Hobbyist and Practical Fishkeeping. Of the 2 mags I prefer Practical Fishkeeping. It's got really interesting short articles and has a nice balance between marine, freshwater and coldwater fish. Also lots of focus on equipment and new products. Definitely worth the money.

Why buy magazines when you can find all the info you need on the internet? I don't see the point of the magazine anymore, to be brutally honest...

I've just taken a subscription. It's $13.95 for a year's subscription and you also have access to all the back issues. So far, I'm enjoying it. You can get a free trial.

In the UK, 'Practical Fishkeeping' is very popular, and a good magazine, but like so many magazines and indeed newspapers, its circulation is surely suffering from the popularity of the Internet. It's still aesthetically pleasing to flick through a good magazine like PF, but like so many publications it's not cheap, and I often think twice before paying nearly four pounds for a copy. Luckily in a nearby town called Newark, there is a market stall that sells older copies at a fraction of the price, which I make use of.
