From that pic its very hard to tell, but i would say that HE is a SHE, and a Cacatuoides SHE at that??

A better pic would be of benefit!!

Was this the only one?? Could you PM me where it was??

    Regards
    G!

Apistogramma Cacatuoides is the scientific name, but whether its a red, double red, tripple red, sunburst or any other colour form is impossible to tell from that first shot! Even it being a cacatuoides is questionable from that shot, but that looks most likely! Regards G!

I think you might be right there Mr. A!! You beat me to it!!

The more I look at the pic, the more I think it IS an Agassizi.

Schalk, if you can, try and get a better pic Pretty please??

Can you describe the shape of the tail?? Is it squarish or kinda rounded, possibly even to a little point?

    Cheers
    G!

Ok, If its rounded and to a point, then its NOT Cacatuoides, but an Agassizi female!! It is possible that it could be a more rare Apisto, as there are some others that share a similar tail shape, but its most likely an Agassizi, as these others are very rare, especially in this country.

Either way, you got yourself a bargain, and now you just need to find a Male!! Thats of course if you want to try breeding them!?!

    Cheers
    G!

Hey G! the little "girl" retreated to her pot and is only stiking her head out to check out the cenery! Once she gets more adapted to her new surroundings i wil def hold a photo shoot and get as much pics as i can! I am realy looking to identify her so i can get her a mate! Would love to try and breed them as my guppies breed permanantly they get a bit boring! lOL!

    All of the best!

Ok, looking at the pic, I would say definatley Apistogramma Agassizi. Its not a Cacatuoides.

I would even hazard a guess that shes a 'Double Red' Agassizi female, but cannot be certain!!

Its interesting, but her very Yellow colour is normally a sign of breeding, but obviously with no male, thats not the case!!

Are you sure there was no Males in the tanks there??

    Regards
    G!

Big G... what's the diff between the caca and the agassizi? I would have thought it was a caca too.

The main difference is the tail...

Cacatuoides has a square ish tail, where as Agassizi has more rounded tail!!

I'll try and post a pic or two to show the difference!!

    Cheers!
    G!

Dolphin and Big G are correct this is definitely a A agassizzi, definitely not a caca, forget it.

I breed A. agasizzi, have about 50 2-3 cm size offspring and may be able to help you soon with a male....

    Kind regards,

    Dirk
