Hi all,im hoping there is someone with experiance in Aponogeton polonation.I have one plant each of ulvaceus and crispus flowering.Question:can either or both self polonate? Does any one else in Cape Town have flowering plants who would be interested in cross polonating our plants? Any one had any success with this and can it work?

Dont worry you can pollenate both yourself by gently rubbing the tip of your finger on the flower once its mature.. The cryspus is very easy and a prolific flowerer, soon you'll have baby plants all over your tank! Oh and just a warning the A. U will probably go dormant after flowering, you will need to take the bulb out and give it a rest period for about 4weeks.. Where did you get such a rare plant btw?

That would be an achievement! To rest the bulb you would need 2 put it in a small container, with damp(not wet) palm peat fiber, then put the container in a dark cool place for at least 4weeks,(there should be tiny leaves forming by then) then you can transfer it back to your tank but you should lower the temp first and then slowly start increasing it and the photo period and growth should speed up..

Its not the easiest plant but it is the most beautiful!
