    [IMG]Hey guys and girls,

Have any of you had a successful spawn? Mine bred this morning and then drama,

The male decided to attack the female to the extent he had her head in his mouth and probably would have killed her if i did not intervene. She had laid the eggs already.

He then proceeded to eat all the eggs? so what do you think, should i be separating the eggs from parents?

What type of dither fish do you have in there...and what do you have in form of caves?

If I where you I'd add larger, more active dither fish that can withstand the male's bullying...or remove the male. Maybe something like danios. Agassizi males are extremely aggressive after spawning

yea, he is massively aggressive when it is breeding time.
the fish is just something that i found in the pet store, the fire red line is a man made variant, and this one that i have seems to be even more orange than the fire reds that we see online nowadays.

It is possible that because he is bred in captivity he was part of a spawn that was artificially raised and therefor perhaps does not have any parenting skills!

Funny, my fire red where never that aggressive. They just had issues with low egg fertility.
