    Hi Folks!

I bought a pair of the profs 'Red Golds' about 2 weeks ago, and today I was just looking into the tank and noticed the female swimming around with a bunch of around 30 or so fry!!

There was no sign of her being particularly over protective of her flowerpot, and regularly left it, so I had no idea she had even laid eggs in there, so imagine my suprise seeing all these fry!

I unfortunately won't be able to take pics at this point, as the water is very dark from the wood, so you wouldn't see anything!! I'll see what I can do tho!

    Cheers
    Big G!

Very nice boet!! Don't worry if the first spawn goes missing. Agassizi's are like discus, it takes them a while to get it right.

    Great success!!!

    Sure thing MC1!

I'm actually looking to make thos into a viable business (small scale), so if I have success and develop into such, I guess I'll have to become a sponsor here too?? It would be nice to be in a position where that was feasable! Time will tell I guess??

As for these fry, I guess in about 3 - 6 months time they'll be ready to go if they last that long?? The mom seems to be protecting them quite well so far tho!

And my initial guess of 30 could be way off?? Looked like there was over 40 earlier this evening!!

    Cheers
    G!

Hmmm, I wish I could get a pic, but the water is that brown from wood leaching that you really won't see anything!! You can just about see the Male when he's at the front Glass!! It really is that brown!!

I was actually thinking I needed to do a water change when I just about noticed the fry swimming around the female! Quite a sight!! Just wish the water was clearer so I could see it more easily!

She has now taken residence at the back of the tank where she can hide the fry in some plants, but every now and then, she whizzs to the front glass with a group of white dots chasing her!! Awesome!!

    Cheers
    G!

Why don't you do a water change like this...

Put the syphon into the tank.. (obviously on other side of tank where the fry are)... take the water out, and at the same time pump water back into the tank from another bucket. Granted you won't get to do a vacuum, you will at least get to change the water slightly. Bear in mind that if you normally take out 5 buckets of water, this method you might need to take out 8 to 10 buckets as you will be filling at the same time, and mixing some of the new water with the old that is going out.

I only have 2 hands! Lol!

Nah i just didn't want to accidentally suck any fry out!

The tank doesn't need a water change, other than to change how dark it is!

    Cheers!

Ok, well after the surprise of getting fry, and then in the last few days having the 'Alenque' pair lay eggs, I have more eggs!! Talk about not being outdone!!

I happened to notice yesterday morning that there was a mass of eggs (around 100) in the flowerpot!! Not that many made it to the end of the day, but there is still at least 50 or 60 in there?? Rather difficult to count!!

So this will be interesting in terms of tank space if this is going to happen every month!!

    Cheers
    G!
