    Hi guys

I wish to revive/ Restart my discus tank after the disaster I had a 2 years ago ( Lost all but two discus ) Of those Fish lost some I had from young for many many many years .

Anyway , I prefer to start with small or decent size fish that wouldn't have issues with my only two and now almost 8 year old surviving discus .

Are there any Discus breeders still around Durban ? I kind of lost contact with everyone in the fish trade . After the tank crash , well I was disheartened and lost initirst , Just doing the normal maintenance and haven't really restocked .

Could you PM me the details?

BTW , The tank crash was due to Eskom Load shedding , causing a transformer to blow , which in turn cut of the whole area for two days :( And I wasn't home at the time ( Out on business)

    Would really appreciate the assistance.

Welcome back Zippy, fortunately not much has changed when it come to keeping fish - now plants / inverts .. we have seen loads of changes offer the last two + years. So if the two are still alive then it sounds like you have maintenance sorted. What other fish did you stock when you had a bigger setup? Only thing that I could add is be sure you have a QT tank - no point in adding new fish that then carry disease into your tank and that takes out the two remainders.

    Post some pics ..

Do you know what caused the disaster a few years ago?
No point in starting again, unless you have those aspects sorted.

A few weeks ago, @Marco did a Tan shipment. Some real quality Discus.
Perhaps you could contact him to see if he can sort you out.

Also, @pHish_man breeds Discus. Not sure if he ships.

Hi F-Fish and ! Hi Guys!

Thanks for the reply! Its been so long , really appreciate the support. Glad things havnt changed much :)

I do have a QT Tank , it isn't up and running though , Stored away , Its Jewel Rio 180 . Always kept it as a spare , I also have a smaller tetratec tank as a QT tank.

Before the crash , The tank was lush with plants and driftwood , with a few smaller rocks here and there ,

I had , 4 Different species of Cory cats 15 in total, 12 Cardinal tetras ( I think it was 12 could have been more ) and 8 Discus fish , There was also a Few neon tetras mixed amongst the Cardinals , some rummy noise tetras and black tetras and one louch . All were purchased small and grew larger .

All few Corys survived and two of the discus managed to pull through as well as the Louch. I believe when the power went , there was some sort of spike as time went by, Im not sure of what or what could have caused it, but before the incident it was a very well established and running tank . The water went cloudy to misty and all hell broke loose . My waters always been crystal clear before the crash. And It was properly maintained .

Im a bit embarrassed posting a picture up , The tank is soo bare , compared to what it was before with its plants and dither fish. But will post up a picture so you guys can have some sort of Idea of what im working with . Its so heart breaking .

It looks like an empty shell with one piece of drift wood , two discus , one louch whose always hiding and one Cory cat working on overtime .

I have attached a few pictures , Light seems dull as I had converted the jewel light bar to LED , I now have 5 LED light bars on the tank . One is switched on at the moment . The Driftwood also gives the tank that brownish look .
