Allot of my larget leaves and new growth seems to be damaged, small holes tearing some looking like they where cut with a sizzsors.

This is one plant that I thought would never have problems. am I doing something wrong ?

    Lighting = 2 x 40 watt sunlight bulbs for about 12 hours a day
I dose with seachem Flourish every 10 to 14 days or so after water changes.

Some pictures will help, as I have a doubt if that plant is a Anubias heterophylla.
Anubias are like plastic plants leaves last for years.
Also how long have you been keeping it?

I will post a pics tonight, I have a yoyo loach and three sword tails in this tank but they have never done damage to the large Anubis, I have had them for about a year now there have always been a few torn bits here and there but now all of a sudden it seems to be everywhere.. even new growth is torn.. and i belive my leaves are starting to curl a little bit.. maybe even getting thinner

The plants themselves are about 50cm high and the adult leaves are between 10cm and 20cm
Planted in my own DIY substrate .. peat, capped with black pea gravel.

Could it be too much light ? I have recently cleared the wood color out of my tank with seachem purigen.

Did you add anything to the pfp?

Your lights are on too long, and you not fertilizing enough. Sounds like deteriorating plants to me.

If you do not fertilize into the water column in the Western Cape, you can forget about your plants growing. Seachem Flourish is a carbon source and not a fertilizer so this why this will not work.

I have developed my DSD fertilizer specifically for the Western Cape conditions and I would advise that you use it.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk

@Dirk Bellstedt, I think you have the 2 Seachem products mixed up, it's the Exel that is the carbon source and the Flourish that is the fetilizer. How long does the PFP and Chemisol usually last for any way?

OK fine, you are right that I have mixed up the excel and the flourish. But the seachem flourish does not work in the soft water of the Cape. There are other deficiencies. The PFP itself can last for two years perhaps even longer without replacement. However the plants use up the Chemicult as they grow and I would say that by a year most are gone. However, the iron in the nails for example will work for as long as they produce rust which would be for years. I would in any case use a water column fertilizer on top of the PFP plus chemicult substrate.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk
