Hey I am new to the forum...

but not so new new to fishkeeping...

I have kept freshwater fish since I was 8 .... 17 now lol
Breed Guppies (obviously) and mollies ... and apple snails by accident a few times...

I have have also kept a Reef aquariums (with inverts, coral etc) a 1.2 m and a 120 liter ... which I will be shutting down shortly, unfortunately things are getting to expensive

My current freshwater system is a Jebo R3100 (210 litre)

it has been running for approx. 1 and a half years ...

Recently there was ich in the tank and did not have the money to replace the fish lost

    Livestock

    1 Neon tetra
    3 Scissor Tail Rasboras
    1 Half Beak ??
    1 Panda Cory
    1 Bristle nose catfish

    Not much left unfortunately

There is also a massive snail pest in the tank so today I move all my fish to my other Jebo (R331) its quite small... I will treat my other tank with some off that snail stuff and let it run overnight

Tomorrow I will drain all the water and clean the tank thoroughly ... I wont be using the substrate that is currently in the tank ever again so it wont be a problem ...

What I want to do is try and breed more corydoras but this time move the eggs from the community tank and see what my success is with that....

i also want to breed the half beaks I have but seems the guy selling them to my lfs only sells them males ...

Anyway I am looking forward to sharing experiences with you .. as I did on the sister site

    Brandon

    Hello and welcome BrandonB.

You can add 1 table spoon of aquarium salt to every 50L of water to get rid and prevent most parasites.(not table salt and not marine salt just pure salt with nothing added)

Thanks I will keep that in mind for next time ... unfortunately I already added the snail stuff... the salt would have been a much safer option too

    Thanks

Welcome to TASA, Brandon. Good luck with the cory breeding (they are one of my favourite fish)!

    Hi Brandonb and welcome

I read somewhere that snails love lettuce leaves and that if you leave a leaf in the tank overnight you should be able to collect a lot of them by taking out the leaf the next day. Just repeat the process until the pest is under control.

I have not tried it myself but it sounded like a nice safe thing to try.

Yes viskop I have tried that previously and it worked ...but unfortunately its only a temporary solution ... the problem is to get rid of the eggs...

Thanks for all the welcomes and advice
