    I'm a regular forum slut - you'll have seen me on apsa.co.za before, I own fishtalk.co.za and also guitarforum.co.za, and sometimes pop in @ dementia.co.za and mybroadband.co.za.

I have a single 70l tank with guppies in it. Lots of plants (mainly swords) and only started less than a year ago so still learning lots.

One day hope to have a tank double or triple the size of my current one with some bigger fish in it but I also plan to keep the guppy tank as it's cool to watch them do their thing.

My wife is planning on getting a green spotted puffer species tank. Probably in a tank double the size of my current one. We already have some snails we're trying to breed to make some food for them.

I know it's difficult but I've made it my mission to try and bread Otos. Just have to get some first :D

Attached are 2 old pics of my current tank. I've got more plants in it now as well as more fish (thanks to my guppies breading so easily). Will post updated pics in a week or 2.

    1. What it looked like in the beginning.
2 & 3. What it looked like about 2-3 months ago.

    Thanks for the welcomes! :)

Khalid, I have considered that but will see how I feel down the line. I started it before I realised there were already thriving communities around but now we've got a tiny thriving community of our own and having so much fun, I figure there's no harm in running it in parallel to TASA and APSA.

Plus I'd like to open it up to marine & koi "fish talk" so I still feel there's a place for it in the world :p

    Brads, howdy :)

I've mainly bought my fish from Tip Top Pets and Exclusive Pets but I think my favourite LFS is Animal Worx. Stefanie will go out of her way to help you and she has really fair prices and her fish are all in good condition.

Exclusive is pricey (R45 for Otos, for example) and Tip Top's tanks don't always look too good.

Pet Stop in town is nice. Awesome marine setups and great tropical selection too. Also seem happy to help with specific requests - so definitely give them a shot if you don't mind the drive.

    Thanks Jesse :)

    Brad:

Yep, they are indeed very pricey. To get to Animal Worx, head down John Vorster towards Nellmapius. Cross over Nellmapius and then turn right at the circle to go inside the shopping center. (I think it's called Southdowns Shopping Center)

Once you're in there, head towards the PnP, find a parking. She (Stephanie) is right next to the PnP. I try to go when Stephanie's in as she's the most knowledgeable. Their prices are very reasonable and they're happy to order stuff specifically for you. Be prepared, it's a small shop but I think it's worth the visit!
