Are they P. Leopoldi, rather than Scalare? Or just black laced Scalare with big bumps on head? They look like beauts!

If you get any offspring and are visiting Cape Town, can I nab some?? haha!

Just one question their fins don't seem very long, is that from line breeding or are they just not fully developed yet? what size are the ones in the picture?

    Cheers!
    Big G!

    More pics and info

Big G: To tell you the truth, I just know that they are angles. Current size are about 60 to 70mm. Like I said, there are 6 angles. The other have much longer fins. Of the six there are two pairs for sure. And they have spawned more times that I can remember. But the eggs just disappear after lights out.

Is it just the angels and nothing else in there?

Maybe if you wanna succeed in breeding them, put a pair into a 60cm tank on their own with a sponge filter! There are plenty of Angel breeding threads in the breeding furom (strange place to put them I know! Lol)

    Cheers
    Big G!

    MTS will strike again

The angles have quite a few other tank mates – 2 pairs of Ancistrus, 2 Whiptail cats, 8 Bronze Corys and some Banjo Cat. I suspect that either the Ancistrus or the Whiptails have a high protein snack when the lights go out. But I have also seen the Angels dig in themselves, but that was just the first couple of times.

I have thought about separating a pair into their own tank, but I am running out of space to put more tanks at this moment. One pair in their own tank would equal at least two or three more tanks that will be used as grow out tanks. Seems as if it won’t be to long before my bakkie won’t have a space in the garage anymore.

That is the biggest problem we dont have enough tanks for them to breed and a grow out tank. My angels have also laid eggs several times but nooo luck so if we want them to breed we will have to give them their own tank.

    Again

When I got home last night – guesses what – the angels have spawned again – and when I switched on the lights this morning – same old story – all the eggs were gone. I really have to make up my mind if I want to raise some angles or not. I seems such a waste to let the eggs turn into a high protein snack every time. (Will post some pics on Monday.)

    Maybe I will

Yikes – you guys are relentless. Maybe I should get another 3 foot and move a pair into their own digs. And another 3 foot to use as a grow out tank. Can fit both onto one stand, like the pics that Gareth posted in his Fish Room thread.
Gareth: do you have some dimensions for that stand?
But that will have to wait until next year. The end of 2009 is near. So little time left and still so much that has to be done.
