Angels spawned HELP!!!!

Hi all,

My angels spawned 2 nights ago on a java fern in my community tank, and the eggs are starting to hatch, what should I do.

can I move the whole plant to another tank?

must I move the parents with them?

or should I leave them as they are?

 

One option is: You could move them to a separate tank with lightly aerated water without the parents.

 

Hi thereCongrats on the spawn!!! I think the best thing to do would be to take out the other fish and leave the parents and the fry in with some dither fish so that the parents won't take out the stress on each other..GOOD LUCK

 

That's an option too. However if you can't rehouse your other fish else where than rather go with my option don't forget to use water from your DT when moving the eggs/fry though.

 

@ ESP and KribLover thanks for the replies, unfortunetly I dont have a big enough tank to move the other fish, so I will have to move the eggs then

 

You may want to add a safe anti fungal treatment, like Tetra Fungi Stop, to the tank as the parents won't be there to fan and clean the eggs, this will prevent any fungus from developing on the eggs.

DON'T move the eggs or the fry from the setup. Do you have a breeding cage or net? What other fish in the setup? The Angels guarding the eggs at all?

 

Hi SlomMo thanks for the reply, I have already moved the eggs to another tank, will set up a tank for the 2 Angels and see if they will spawn again

They spawned again 2 days ago, but some of the eggs got some white fungus on it

 

Congtrats on the spawns. How did the eggs fair on the fern that you moved?

Your best bet right now is to start a bbs set up so that you have something that the babies can eat, but in the mean time I suggest that you go to your local pet shop and try and get hold of some Interpet Liquifry for egg bearers, that will go a long way to helping to feed the babies in the mean time.

You don't have to start feeding the babies until they start free swimming which should be between 3 to 5 days from hatching.
