Yep Carl - white eggs are unfertile - probably both females...

If they're both females, I wonder how they decide which of them will act as the male, and who does all the hard work

Only sure way to sex an angel is to check the breeding tubes = female tube is round and blunt - male tube comes to a point , cone shaped. The tubes only come out when ready to breed.

    But it is the truth!!

Also the males tube will be quite a bit thinner than the females.

Hey Slagter - there are a number of myths and half truths in sexing angels - One is the male is thinner one, this is not necessarily true. The other is the angle of the body from mouth to dorsal, another is the female is the one wearing lipstick !!!!!!

    :) :) :) :)

Will angels lay eggs in a community tank and do they have to be a certain size?

Yes they will lay eggs in a community tank, and you may be lucky and get a few fry to live, if the parents are good enough and the tank occupants are of the right kind.

They normally start breeding between 9 and 18 months old for domestic angels.
