Angelfish females fighting over a male

There's some interesting stuff going on in my tank, as you know. I have 2 males and 2 females. The two males get along - but they aren't friends. The two females acts like two teenage girls. There's the occasional "flaring", biting and chasing between them. They'll confront each other and make strange movements and kind of play "chicken" until one turns away.

It looked as if the smaller male and female formed a pair and was cleaning a leaf for spawning. My temperature wasn't high so the force wasn't too strong I came after some 2 hours of not being home and saw that they have swapped. The larger female is with the smaller male, still chasing the other two away... The larger female's dorsal fin was heavily damaged and the other female had new marks on her side. It now looks like the larger female and the smaller male is trying to get a spot for spawning. Not one of the Angel's papilla is very extended ATM.

As all this is fun and interesting to watch, I know it's not too good for the Angels and they are getting hurt. Could it be that the two female are fighting over that one male and ignoring the other one? The other male still seem very shy and scared and doesn't stand up to the others. Even the smaller male and female can stand up to him.

Weird stuff.
