I think it more of a case of not realy working in the last 3 weeks and having a builders wharehouse just down the road who smile every time they see me or my visa should I say ,that it got done quickly.
also consider I have huge sump and a low stock list if you think about it I have mabe 15 barbs one kuhli loach a few guppies (4) 6 have been eatin in two days and one big arowana a lot less than some 3fts ive seen on
    TASA .

    Update time

So the water has cleared up to a point that I am happy with. I like crystal clear water . I have added 15 golden tiger barbs , 10 rosy barbs and 5 more Odessa barbs . This is filling the open spaces brilliantly , when they school together it looks great with jardini swimming around or thru them . I have added a db board with pumps ,heaters air pumps running on there own switch and a separate plug for wave maker and sump light .just need close the wires of with trunking to get a neater look inside the cabinet . I will start with the auto top tank this coming weekend because I'm loosing about 30l a week due to evaporation . So there is progress but still lots to go ... Pic time

By far one of the best non-planted tanks I have seen.

So I couldnt sleep last night and after mutch pondering I decided perhaps one or two plants might bring a bit more authenticity to the look. every river ive ever swam in in the east or Aus was murky and slimy with a lot more green coulors on the bottom not always plants but more like algae ish .
So im up for sugestions ,I was thinking something mosy or grasy as the small pebbles I have in there will green with time so just really to patch around them . Bear in mind anthing over 2 or 3 cm high the jardini will uproot if any of the smaller fish go near it .

Was thinking the same thing! The barbs look pretty relaxed around him in the youtube clip? I am sure there must be a fair bit of snacking though?

Nah. The barbs last quite long as long as I keep the jardini well fed. 10 to 15 xlarge crickets. Twice a week and if not mabe 1 or 2 a week will disappear but now they have a big log to hide at night so it seems better ..

It'll be best if you go for low tech plants, otherwise you are going to have to do CO2 and ferts and stronger lights and I don't think it's that kind of tank.

Mossy - you could grow some Java moss on your wood. It's a low light plant.
For grassy, groundcover plant you could go for Vallis. It also doesn't need high light and is easily available. (I can give you loads if you want) It grows higher than 3 cm, but if you plant heavily she might not do too much damage.

However, if you want your plants to grow it's better to add ferts. Prof Dirk's ferts for a low tech setup would work well.
