Thanks If I can just get it to heat up I've now got 4 300w running 2 only got the water to around 20deg . It's a catch 21 situation I know my jagers will do the trick but I don't wanna take them out of the jardini tank until I move him .so as with always and fish keeping patience .

    Time for some progress pics.
The jardini is in . The old filter media heaters and water from the old tank went in at the same time .temp is sitting around 26 27 degrees so not bad considering the outside temp currently and the size of open water . The jardini is loving it and is already rulling the tank
.the wave maker pump is great at getting a good Current running and clearing up all detritus build up on the gravel I have It running on a timer for about 6hours of the day in 15 30 45 minute durations .and for the rest of the day the water is calm and quiet . Will do a 20% water change sunday and then the normal once a week water changes .
When I get back I'll start with the top up tank ,putting the Db board , plugs and wiring in neatly and getting the cabinets neat ,so still a lot of work to go. But so far it's looking great .

I am an absolute fan of this project! Very few people provide the proper accommodation for such beautiful fish, and here you stand as a role model for any current or potential arowana owner - well done! :)

    Wow thats awesome thanks
,I'm trying to provide the best environment and as similar to the natural habitat as is possible in an aquarium .id rather have that than a stunning looking aqua scape to be honest .
My mind is already ringing bells to try get a male jardini now as I'm pretty sure my jardini is a female as I can't see any clear overbite .i know the tank is still a bit small I believe the smallest successfull pairing was done in a 3 x 2 x 50 but that's another days project

Congrats for turning, an abandoned scrappy old tank into that!
I like the substrate and driftwood as a posed too a bare bottom, looks much better in my opinion.
I've also heard some people speculate that the reflection on a bare bottom can contribute to dropsy.

Mhmmm, just one thing missing though... something flat shaped with a stinging tail .

Thanks Yip bare bottom tanks are great for maintenance but I've never seen a river or lake with a mirror at the bottom .as for rays ....the only freshwater rays that I'm aware of available in sa get to big for even my tank .ill rather keep an eye out for a partner jardini .

Are you considering any low-tech plants for this tank, like some java fern or anubias on the wood?
Check out the tank on the second last post on this thread.

This is one of the coolest tanks I've seen. Sure there are alot better scaped tanks around, but to think he achieved it without ferts or CO2 is quite amazing.

I suppose your'e right, stil tempting though. Good luck finding a male. :)

Stunning tank. But ya I dono hey the planted vibe just doesn't appeal as much as having lots of swimming space. ,I've got a spare tank now trying to decide weather to get rid of or do something different ?

Thanks. This shape of tank is used a lot in the dark side as its great for corrals because of the light penetration being water height is so low. So ya I never seen a tropical setup like this other than ray tanks on mfk but I think perfect for arowana .
