@stormbringer101 what are you using as filter media ? because filling that size sump cannot be cheap.

I have about 10 kgs of old lava rock and crushed brick chunks from over the years tanks , cycling now . About 5 kgs of different bio balls also from over the years and a couple of bags of different ceramics rings and cubes . All in all I think a must just buy a couple more bags of quality ceramic rings .then once the tank is filled seed it with water from existing tank and finally the media from the existing tank . The plan is to have the airstone at the bottom then rock and crushed brick stuff as a bottom layer then the ceramic rings and cubes then sinking bio balls then floating bio balls on top .ill have the mechanical filtration in the drop chamber for gunk I want to plumb the overflow so that the filter floss gos around and covers the overflow to prevent splashing and can be changed and cleaned more easily than when it covers 1.23m x60 .

Are you planning on putting any substrate in the tank?

Yes I don't like the bare bottom style .
I do like the mixed up look so it will be a mixture of a bit of midnight black and good old builders wharehouse filter sand. With random small pebbles and stones .
I think I'm gonna need a few bags of sand. And am not looking forward to rinsing them , The idea of the scape for the tank is to have it very minimal ,lots of swiming and growing room ,no plants at all (the jardini just digs them up any way ) as many tiger barbs as i get my hands on and one big piece of driftwood in the middle rising out of the water .will look for a pic of the piece of wood now and add it ,

This is the wood I want to have coming out the centre of the tank Growing up , still have to figure out how I'm going to do it as its nearly a meter high and heavy as hell , was thinking of hanging from the ceiling and covering it with as mutch sand and stone around it as possible to keep it in place

Zoom. You might just be a genius . That's given me a cracking idea. Most trees i saw in Thailand gardens had this ,maybe something like this. , I would think they would love the humidity coming of the water ? But I'm no expert. But it will keep with the tropical theme kinda off

Time for updates ,Tank is fixed cleaned and is in place .the plumbing is done I have run one side with 50mm overflow and one side with 32mm return running a 5000lph pump .i have dropped from 32 to 20 mm pipe at the end so that I could add a custom spray bar to get even distribution across the width of most of the tank.
Added plastic egg crate around all of the overflows so you can't see the boxes and pipes. I also added a seio (12000lph if I remember correctly ) wave maker just under the return box for circulation every now and then to run on a timer (all electric work still has to be done ) .
I've run the overflow directly into a ball valve and then split into two to go to each side of the overflow chamber. I must say the sump is still looking very empty even thou I should have more than enough bio media. It's currently got 2l seachem matrix , I will add another 2l when I take from my existing tank .4 boxes of dyna Max big tube bio thingies, lots of old lava rock , kgs of old ceramic cubes and rings , bio balls etc and I added an extra 5kgs new ceramic rings .with the contents of my old sump I'm hoping I can get it looking full and even cause although I'm running profs 1 chamber setup it's looking nothing as compact as feel I should but the flow is great and with the airdrome underneath it all at about the 1m mark there seems to be plenty of oxygen going thru the media . So that's about it will start test filling tm and if all go s well , off to builders for 3 bags of sand Hers some pics so long .

WOW! Can't wait to see the pics when you're up an running!

Just a question from the un-educated... is there not an danger of the Arowana jumping out? Or is this not the expected behavior from this fish?

Thanks Heating will be 3 300w jagers and one no name brand 300w ( iesh )

I have 2 aqua medic t5 units that I will get to eventually but lighting not really a big thing as the room is big and very well lit and the jardinis don't realy like the bright light .

So the tank is filled, decided to do it last night so I could leave it overnight to check for leaks rather than staring at water levels this morning . Good news Is there are no leaks and the flow rate seems ok . The return pump is pumping a bit faster than the overflow but I will tweak the overflow gate and rerturn pump feed settings to get it balanced . I've got one of my baby butterfly kois in as the sacrificial current tester and all Is looking good (only 20 % of the media is new the rest has been running in other tanks and is well matured ) and I have dosed cycle as well .now to start the Rinsing of sand and adding .
