Uh oh! I would've joined if I didn't get the wrong shrimp
Good luck with the next batch.
Is the Amano shrimp freshwater or marine?
They have a marine larval stage, but adults are full freshwater.
Ahh makes sense now. Was wondering about the salinity levels
Sad news, maybe try and get some phyto algae going for the next batch.
Day 1 again pfff....last go at it....Ill update in 3 weeks if all goes well by then.
Best of luck!
The long awaited update. Its been 25 days or so,so let's kick things off again.Things are looking good.To be honest I have been so busy I haven't given the tank any attention or done any maintenance.Ive added a glass top to prevent evaporation,it's helped so much that I haven't had to do any waterchanges to keep salinity levels in check. Its become a bit of a slight pea soup but I was hoping for that so I don't have to do any feeding.Ive also switched off the bubble filter because a lot of Zoe's got stucked there the first time around and perished there.Just been running a airstone wich i gradually increased the amount of air weekly as the zoes got stronger.Lights are running from 6am to 8pm.Zoes are healthy, strong and active, they look bigger than on day 18 of my previous/1st attemt but more or less with the same features. In short,no waterchanges,no filtration and no feeding since day 1,it seems to be working so far.Ill be keeping a eye on them daily from now in anticipation of a positive outcome.
Lol the pea soup is not for the faint hearted but it serves a purpose.
PS: The drift wood and ceramic pot has some nerite eggs on but no success so far.
Well done, and good luck. Hope that you have found the right recipe.
Sounds like so far so good!!
Hope all continues to go well..
Congrats Christiaan! Fingers crossed. You will do it this time.
Why not stick the airstone into the filter media pod?

Hi Nate.Alot of them die in the filter unit so this time around I decided to leave it,I don't think in this situation it's really all that important to have a filter. For now I'm going with as little as possible temperature and salinity fluctuations and a constant algea supply.
Few notes for day 28.Zoes have started to change colour from yellow'ish/transparent to red'ish and they are approximately 7/8mm in size.
That is awesome...!!
When do they start looking like shrimp?
