Hey guys so I like to share this exiting news. I've recently got my Altolamprologus compressisceps chaitika and black calvus pairs.

These fish are really awesome to watch and observe, personalities are amazing ! And don't even get me started on how amazing they look ! Wow.

But anyways here's some pics. Just need to know though which ones are the males and which are the females.

Any other advice on these fish will be greatly appreciated for there can never be enough information gathered. And I noticed there's hardly any info or videos made on these amazing fish.

    Beautiful fish @kovi

I particularly like the black calvus, if I could have some in my tank, I would.

I am tagging in @Jack Stone ... maybe he can help

Lol hahaha nope, just to add to my collection. I get pairs cos I love watching the mating rituals and their colour displays, but I have no time to raise fry. Everybody is also on my case to breed my double black Angelfish as well lol

Very nice. Altos are my fave Tang.

Although you don't plan on breeding them, you may have the odd fry that does survive.

@kovi - Apologies for the delays. Stunning fish! They look old enough to sex by size. This has been the most reliable method for me, aside from waiting for vents to drop. The females will usually look no bigger than about 5cm while the males get almost twice their size in the same amount of time in the same tank. Mostly, if you see a big one and a small one hanging out together (they are looking for nesting spot), those two will almost certainly pair up. Note that after breeding the pair bond breaks so if you isolate a pair, make sure the female can escape from the male ( save with entrance too small for male), and visa versa (kind of)... give him a space to hang out where the female won't feel that he threatens her babies.

PS. Chaitika should go orange like a carrot, maybe the camera is fooling me, but those look more like a Goldhead variant.

The Chaitika in the first photo seem pretty obvious as to which is the male and female, but I think it would be easier on the calvus if you could also try get a photo of them together.

I can't say that any of the calvus pics look like a male to me, not that I am a calvus sexing pro, but my male is a lot taller in profile than the female and his dorsal and anal fins have a slight flare towards the points. Your male chaitika also show these traits in comparison to the female.
