    Good morning

So about two weeks ago one of my ballast got wet and popped.
I then decided to try out the idea of normal clf 6400k daylight energy saving bulbs
    26watts each in a 2ft tank.

Since the new globes I have plenty of algae growth.
Is the light to much or can it be the wrong colour spectrum

    Thanks

Yes both lights are the same.

I run them at about 10 hours a day sometimes 12. But mostly 10

For that amount of light I would go for 8 hours a day (with resting periods). And I think the light is to much. I ran a 100L with 2 23w 6400k Cfl's and it was just fine. So for a 2ft tank i think its maybe to much. rather try 2x12w or 2x15w.

Your lights are on too long. And depending on the number of plants, fertililizing, you may have too much light.

Have only one light on for 4 hours in the morning, with a three hour midday break, and then a single light on for another 4 hours in the evening. follow this routine until we know better on your fertz and plants. This should also help with the algae for the time being!

    Aaah... green spot algae...

Just wipe it with a credit card or blade dude.

(And change your lighting to 8 hours a day)

GSA is usually a sign of higher nitrate levels. How much water are you changing when doing a WC? What ferts are you using?

Green Spot Algae is probably the most COMMON algae we all face...

It is caused by 3 main factors:
    * Low Phosphate levels (I don't think so in this case)
    * Too high light (Plausible)
    * Lights on too long (BINGO)

(Obviously if you were running a high tech setup with pressurized CO2, lots of fertz... your lighting would be fine... and GSA wouldn't occur... but this is because of the balance between the fert's, co2 and PO4)

I ALWAYS tell people to just ignore GSA. It is the least painful of them all... and easiest to remove. Just wipe it off the tank's glass. SIMPLE.

If you start increasing your phosphate levels, you will risk other algae blooms that are from excess phosphate... and trust me... once you've fought your way through the other algae's... you'll welcome GSA any day!!

Again, change your light set up to 4 hours in the morning, 3 hour siesta, and 4 hours on in the evening.
Take the one globe out.. OR change both globes to a lower wattage.

You not really giving us much information to go by here.

    What plants? (easy growers, difficult)
    How MANY plants?
Do you dose CO2 (DIY or pressurized)
    What substrate are you using

What fish? Numbers of fish. (You may find the fish is more than enough fertz for your plants)

    HOW do you do maintenance?

    @Zoom

plants: 3x dwarf anubias, 3x strings hornwort, 1x amazon sword, and 2x that looks like a tree.
ferts: once every three weeks, tetra plantamin
    no co2
    Substrate: silica sand

    Fish: guppies x20

Maintenance: change water, rinse filter media with tank water.

    Hope this helps

You have too much light, on for too long. Those are all easy growing plants.
