    Hi

I went to a Lfs on the weekend saw a nice Malawi tank with a big ship and rocks and the ship and rocks had algae or moss growing on it the water was clear looked very nice. How do I get that started in my Malawi tank ?

If you want to speed up things get yourself a smaller tank or bucket and put the rocks in water in the sun. Will have plenty of green algae on it in a month's time. Just be careful of stagnant water, put something in to circulate the water.

Yes like a wooden spoon...that will circulate it well, lots of manual work, haha @SloMo.00.

In my 60L tank with a few juvenile malawis I got lots of algae growth in only a few weeks with just one 15w Bio Lux tube on for about 6 hours a day. No plants and definitely no plecos or algae eaters and it shouldnt be a problem, only need to clean the front and side glass at each water change. The mbuna malawis love the algae and its a pleasure watching them 'graze' on it :)
