Algae issue

    Hi guys

    I got a bit of an algae issue in my discus tank i clean the tank every sec week and water change ones a week i read on the net its harmless but it doesnt look so nice its growing mostly on the stump in the tank .
    So i wanna get a algae eater cause i see the plecos aint doing much but i dont want something that gonna harm or disrupt the discus cause they very happy at the mo can anyone make a suggestion plz of what algae eater to get

    Otoclinus. Dwarf suckermouth catfish. They are amazing! Prodigious! My favourite algae eater. I had all of my plants leaves coated in a tough black scum and in just a few days a pair of these guys cleaned them up beautifully!

    Perhaps you need to post a pic of the algae you have. Otos won't eat every type of algae. Few fish do.

    Hmmm the one thats on the stump is the hairy type u can see its longish weaving from left to right gives the tank some attitude tho LOL

    I haven't had lasting success with Ottos and Discus. They seem to disappear after a week or so. Probably easy targets for the Discus to snack on

    Ancistrus is probably a better bet

    i heard there are some algae eaters who suck on discus but this was a while back cant remember where i saw this

    U now its so funny i have a gold nugget in there and a Ancistrus and they are doing nothing both of them are chilling under the log

    So have you been able to identify the algae properly? Does it look like the picture in the link I posted?

    It looks like it but what im gonna do is just check it out and then come back to you cause its really just hairs i can see i havent checked them close up

    Sorry, I have no experience with discus. I wasn't aware they'd snack on smaller fish. And the Ottos are tiny little fish!

    yeah those guys suck on the discus slime coating. be carefull.
