Algae in our local damn

Hi all

I know this isn't the place to post this, but I went on a fishing trip today, when I got to the small damn In van dyk park, there were dead fish everywhere , there also was an hairy type of algae in the water and it has bloomed I think the algae in the water is taking out to much of the nutrients and oxygen This is really bad... that's my favorite place to fish :-(

 

East rand dams are just a mess at the moment. Have you been past any of the benoni dams recently? Kleinfontein, middle, homestead and civic have huge weed hyacinth and algae problems. Fish are being caught and relocated to hartebeespoort almost every weekend but for every fish that gets relocated over the weekend another 5 are caught in the week and sold for food

 

No not yet, never have transport (and well i suck at fishing) I really want to go and see how those dams look , every time I cast in this damn and retrieve my lure it is full of algae
