My Golden gourami has been in the tank for a couple of months now. She has been the only standard sized fish in there with a peacock eel, 2 ropesish and a handful of danios (who get less and less as the ropefishes catch them). She started getting aggressive with the eel whenever he came out (feeding time etc). So I bought 2 3-spot gouramis(male and female) and a dwarf gourami hoping the company would calm her down. Now she just chases all 4 of them all day long (the dwarf less so cause he stands his ground).

Its stressfull for the other guys, should i take her to an lfs? Should I take them all out and re-arrange the tank and put them in to nullify her 'territory'? buy a male golden gourami? please help, she is gorgeous and healthy and i'd hate to lose her, though i'd rather have a happy tank without her.

    Thanks

I have the same problem with a male fire gourami. Goes at everything in sight.even the females. Thinking of changing him to some other fish with less agression unless there is away to stop it.

I had the same problem with one of my Golden Gouramis. I gave him to my father and his whole attitude changed in my dad's aquarium. He has calmed down and no longer chases any of the other fish. I wonder if it was a territorial thing? Great wars were fought over lands...

yeah, my brother in law had the same problem with two decans, male and female, we moved the male into my tank, and he is now the calmest bugger in the tank...but now he is my favourite...

I have moved mine to a 3ft tank and even then he still fought with everything. Will give him to someone with bigger fish in their tank.

Looking at your other post with the pictures might explain why she is like that. She is looking for a male. She is huge with eggs. I'm actually looking for a Male / Female gold still.

I currently have pearls, 3 spot (blue) and dwarf pairs.

Where did you buy her from?

Ace and Lic maybe you should loan each other the male or female see if you can get them to breed and share the spoils :)
