    Hi,

I need to suggestions and/or advice please!

I have a female guppy who is normally very well behaved. However, in the past couple of days she has become very aggressive! She usually shares her 50 odd litre tank with another femaile guppy, 2 male guppies and 2 little black moors.

During the past two days she managed to almost completely nip off the other female's tail and also pretty much make a complete mess of the larger male's tail. However, the smaller (and prettier) male she has absolutely no problem with!

As for the black moors, she constantly picks on them. The poor things are hiding under plants and she still manages to find them and beat them up!

The two little fish she hurt is currently in a 'hospital tank' (been there since yesterday), and I can already see an improvement in their happiness (not condition as yet, think that might take more than 24 hours).

I've removed her from the main tank for a 'time-out' in the hope that her attitude improves...

Any suggestions or comments on how I can deal with this?

    Thanks

This is not normal for a guppy, try putting her in her own tank with the male she like with a cave and see if her attitude changes.

Thanks - that's what I thought. Will give her and her "boyftiend" some privacy...

I have a female guppy like that. I cannot put her and another female alone in a tank. She then proceeds to attack the other female. When I put her back in the main tank with all the other guppies (male & female), then she is fine. I agree with Dasher. You need to seperate her from the guppies that she does not like or else she will eventually hurt them badly enough for them to die. It's also unpleasant for the rest of the fish in the tank to constantly be hiding. If you cannot seperate her on a permanent basis, then I would suggest taking her back to the LFS.

1.Sounds like she is bored, I would suggest getting 5 + young males to keep her busy
2.Your Moors might be creating a too competitive food munching advantage, Try move them to another tank and see what happens
    3. Improve the food type, and amount
    4. Increase tank space / bigger tank
5.If all else fails ,admit to the asylum ward

Some feedback on my naughty girl... She seems to have learnt her lesson! Just like kids - have to lay down some discipline every now and again....

Left her yesterday where she could see the others but not touch them. Felt sorry for her and placed her back last night to see if her attitude changed - and she pretty much ignores everybody but her little friend! Even the little black moors are happily swimming around today.

However, if her attitude deteriorates again, I'll place her and her friend in their own tank...

So thanks for the advice you all gave me - MUCH appreciated!!!!!
