Guys, what do you think of the background? I had a piece of white melamine laying around so I just placed it against the back pane.

Funny story. A friend of mine here sent me a video today of his brichardi pair who just had fry saying in 4 weeks I can collect as many as I want from him. They're very rare here and getting some for free is an absolute steal. I just don't have the tank though.

On a side note I made a fish trap to catch out my bigger fry as they were eating the newer ones and it worked like a charm. Incase you wanna try that route

 

The background looks great. If you wanna go darker you can always spray paint the one side and use it. I've done that in my main tank with dark blue and I used those foam wallpaper sheets. It looks quite okay I think

This is why I dislike OBS their temperament is a gamble to take and most of the time attack the tank favourites

 

You are 100% bud. Except for my Frontosa, all these fish came from two shutdowns. OBs were not even part of the plans initially but since he is calm now, Ill let him be

 

The key word you missing is FOR. He is calm FOR now once the pecking order is established in the new set up and territories are claimed, if he is tank boss he's gonna try to take over all of the space. I do hope in your favour that the larger tank is going to tame him. What used to work for me for a very short time was consistently rearranging the decor but it became too much hassle so I just donated the troublesome fish and got in a ton more
