i had the same problem since i use a corner bubble filter,my fix came when i saw this floating rock thing that clamps in above the filter and it has worked wonders so far,the way i see it is that when the bubbles hit the rock think they breake into smaller bubbles and they are slowed down,so there is almost no noise.

Just remember, the faster the bubble break the surface, the more surface movement you get, and the more O2 getting into the water!

and the more expensive co2 - that you paid a fortune for - gets out before the plants gets to use it

I seriously doubt Snyper has a pressurized CO2 on his tank Henk.

No... we just manage to get good growth without having to use CO2. CO2 is for people who CAN'T KEEP PLANTS!

Ok so i abandoned the DIY canister filter idea and went with a diy spray bar just need peoples opinions on it. The tank is now heavily planted and i also want to elimate the strong current that was going across the tank so i came up with this idea. Here is a pic. Would this provide sufficent water agetation and be fine for the tank. I have seen people connect diy co2 outlets to the bottom of powerhead to difuse the bubbles if i connect it now to the bottom of mine will it mix in with the water and be adding co2 enriched water to the tank?

yes but not if the spray bar is above the water - then you are just wasting time and effort. the spray bar has to be underwater with as little as possible surface disturbance as possible

What provides the oxygen for the fish then if its under the water?
I do see why this is better for the co2 though.

the plants produce o2 for the fish.... if you disturbe the surface to add O2 the CO2 wil escape and your effort will be wasted

The DIY CO2 is a waste of good sugar and yeast in my opinion. ANd on Low tech set ups, I think you probably just causing a reason for algae to bloom in your tank. Keep it set up the way you have it, and dump the DIY CO2.

I know my thread is boasting how great it is... but these last 2 weeks, after extensive research and reading, if you not going to provide proper CO2 through a pressurized system, and high enough light... it really is not worth it.
