Ok so some of you guys know that i might be getting a new tank soon & it comes complete with some swordtails. The plan was to give them all away & setup the tank for my Malawis but after some research & consideration i dont think it would be a good idea as the Malawis would grow quiet a large size & im not going to be in a position financially to buy a bigger tank again. So i will be trading my Malawis & after some thought most of my swordtails with Slayer & he is willing to find me some other tropical fish. Now i have fallen in love with extremely deep red of the swordtails i've seen so im going to keep a few but i really want some other fish too.

So the million dollar question is: What other small breed tropical fish can i keep with the swordtails that are very colourful?

From what I know, sword tails are quite peaceful. They are only aggressive with other male sword tails. You can add other live bearing community fish like guppies, platys, mollies, danios....

Not just live bearers. Danios are egg scatterers. Tetras! There are lots and lots you can choose from.

Red Phantom, Black Phantom and there is others also in the tetra family. Problem is that the red and think Blue Phantoms DO NOT like a planted tank, more a minimalistic tank with a few leaves and roots, and black water (water that looks like tea). Black Phantoms like a planted tank. I wanted to keep them all but after reading up on them I decided against it, as I want to have a planted tank. I'm going with Black Phantoms, Diamonds Tetras and then guppies. Dont think there is more colourfull than that LOL

It is awesome I agree. I had the misfortune to loose 11 fish in two days due to Columnaris. It's something I must have picked up from the LPS. But it's being treated now and lets hope these loses are few and far between. Because of them being new fish and also the first fish in the tank I didn't Quaranteen them. Well now I'm on the lookout for another tank. MTS is kicking in!!!!
