I'm looking for advice on the built-in filtration system that comes with the Juwel Lido 120.
I havn't yet decided on the fish i'll be keeping, but I'd like to start off with a community setup with a few plants perhaps.

Is the built-in biofilter sufficient? I know that additional filtration is generally ideal, but is the built-in filtration sufficient on it's own, with small fish species like the smaller tetras and barbs?

    Hi.

I have got a juwel vision 450. I like the filter as a unit however, I added an extra filter for circulation. Juwel is a fantastic product

@Asgar: Why not look at a small canister filter? Internal filter are generally just good mechanical filters and wont add much in the way of biological filtration. That way if you need to clean the built in filter or something goes wrong with it you have a good filter as a backup.

The juwel has a very large section for biological filtration so you will not have a problem with that. I do agree with the idea of a second filter.

Have the exact same tank. The built in system is brilliant, in fact the whole tank is brilliant.

The filter has excellent bio and mechanical abilities, conceals everything incl heater neatly and is super easy to clean, - easier than any canister. You need nothing else!

@Asgar: No problem, it is always good to have a second filter running for those situations were something happens (which it does) then you have some redundancy with two filters running.
