    Hi Corylyle

Welcom to the forum. Where are you from? and what is your aquarium interests?

In the last 2 moths there has been a couple of posts regarding this, check under the search function for driftwood and you will get some good advise.

Hey Corylyle1, if the piece is small enough boil it for about 4 hours, If too big, stick it in a hot bath overnight. Then leave it in water for a week or two changing the water as it goes tea coloured.

Once in the tank - get some SeaChem Purigen from Panorama and let that sit in your filter - works well !!

    Boiling Driftwood

I have been told that boiling the driftwood will cause it to rot very quickly. Is there truth to this. Has anybody experienced this or can anybody vouch the contrary.

Boil the wood X 3 when you first get it. Then add to tank and just deal with the brown water....a log I had, that was leeching into the water quite a lot, stopped after about 6 months worth of water changes.

Must say the wood I got from gav + vee recently is actually gr8....I just let it lie in my bath for about a week or so and added it to my tank; it hasn't leeched anything into the tank yet

Wish I could say the same ... I left mine in a container under the gutter so rain water was washing out old water for two weeks. Then I scrubbed them 3 times in boiling hot water ... they went into the tank thereafter .... getting some leeching ....

Didn't know I could boil them .... Will try that! In mums soup pot! hahaha ... she is going to love me.

Some carbon in the filter removes the Tannin discolouration.

I got some floating in my tank of death... 250L

Lost all my 2 pleccies (40cm a piece) in it this weekend. Schoolboy overdose error on the meds...

30000 Mg of potassium pomegranate instead of 300. Definately cured the Ick..

as for 2500l a bag of Charka should do the trick :)

Throw it in the pond for a while if you have one.

Won't notice the pond going yellow, and it won't bother the Koi much.
