acaras spawning...confusion

my acaras have laid eggs on tuesday midday. the mom has been fanning the eggs since then and excavated all the substrate (silica sand) from under the wood. today however , theres just a few eggs left. i am rather anxious and sad right now. could it be that the eggs deteriorated? there hasnt been any sign of fungi or other sorts of parasites. furthermore, its just the pair that are housed in this tank. help will be greatly appreciated.

I take it that this is the pairs 1st spawning? Suspect the parents have eaten the eggs - a pretty common experience in cichlids and their 1st spawnings... dont worry - they will spawn again,and hopefullty learn how to be good parents...

 

yes, it is their first spawning, the female has been very good actually. doesn't let the male near the eggs and she fans them.so she must of eaten them by mistake ?

 

She might eat the whole clutch if it's her first spawn...
