Haha you'll get fry. Have some confidence.

You will get fry. The challenge is raising them. You have all the right stuff though so I don't foresee any issues.

All 10 CPDs are still accounted for, fattening up and colouring up nicely. Some of the ‘females’ I bought are actually subadult males. I have both sexes in the tank but will wait to see what the final ratio is. Some of them are ready to breed.

Added a spawning container very early yesterday morning. Tried to spy on them from a distance and think there is a chance they may have already spawned in the container. Giving them another shot this morning then will move the spawning container down to the 10L plastic tub set up yesterday on the shelf below.

Hoping to hatch and raise fry in the tub for perhaps the first month or so, then graduate them to the sunshine tank in the son’s room (could easily add a little heater if needed), then to the 38L sunshine tank (by that stage weather should’ve warmed up).

Sponge filter and heater in the tub. The filter is unfortunately not cycled yet but I added a little bit of cycled substrate as well as Stability for a week. Floating plants will also help with water quality and offer security to fry.

Another big thank you to @TheGrissom aka The CPD Master for all the help along the way.

Let’s see how it goes! Might not have success first time around but we’ll try and try again

Then the Spar-sign looks a bit different huh.

So funny we call it a bakkie or bakje as well. And of course are familiar with Spar.

Mine have also not produced any fry for about 6 weeks now and my last few attempts before that produced very few. Could be the cold maybe even though they are in heated tanks. Keep trying, at some point they will come right

You only need 1 male and 1 female. 3 is plenty.

The 44L got a biiiig trim and I freshened up the sand. CPDs are in good condition I think, will get the spawning container in again and hope for the best!
