As you know I was the lucky winner of @Hawk ’s 44L - R500 for everything:
    - tank, heater, filter and DIY light
    - 6 bronze cories that have spawned already but ate the eggs. They’re really very cute!
    - various shrimp including red and black crystal caradinas
    - aquasoil substrate and all the plants, including loaaaads of vallis mini, ludwigia repens and susswassertang, as well as crypts (wendtii brown)

    https://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/...sh-etc-r500-00-collection-s-suburbs-ct.33326/

I’m busy rescaping it, and have found a couple of hidden gems amongst the susswassertang: a piece of bolbitis, lots of narrow leaf java fern babies and 2 trident java fern babies, a little anubias that might be anubias nana petite.

Used a piece of spider wood that has been soaking in the pond for the epiphytes (including 4 pieces of nana petite from the in vitro pot) . Added giant baby tears from the 180L.

Need to give away a lot of the susswassertang before scaping can continue.

Added 2 horned zebra nerites and thinking I’ll add amano shrimp to help clean up the bba. Might make a good amano grow out tank.

Thinking I’ll replace the light with the one currently on the 65L.

So when are you planting a 500 liter tank??

It's the only logical step from 44L:lol:

True! You know by now I love them jungles :)
The amount of mini vallis in & from this tank could probably carpet a 500L within 2 months or so

Fascinating to watch the cories spawn. Suddenly lots of activity, then the T-position. Females release the eggs in a kind of egg sack, then goes off to lay them accompanied by 2 males.

I know it’s old news for a lot of people but anyhow

    They’re still at it!

Oooh I see the eggs caught the attention of a trumpet snail

Just found about 5 cory fry that must’ve hatched in this container with some plants from the bronze cory tank. They’re bloody fast for such little things, I have no idea when they hatched but they’re free swimming and I see what looks like tiny fish pooh on the bottom so it wasn’t yesterday... Probably a good couple of days already, not sure.

Not sure that I can keep them in the container as it is not heated and very shallow water (I’ve already added a bit of water before the photo, must’ve been 1cm). The container was simply on the floor in front of a glass door where the plants could get some light. We’ve had a real cold spell the past couple of days and the water is cold, honestly don’t know how they hatched and survived thus far.

Just added a pinch of hikari first bites, but will soak some shrimp food for future feedings.

Totally unprepared and a bit panicked. Should I just leave them in the container for now? Would my 65L be a better option (cherry shrimp, neon and ember tetra, snails)? Would they get hurt in the net if I try move them across?

    @DoubleDutch @TheGrissom @David Kusner anyone else - advice please???
