60 l Beta forest

    My sons Siamese fighter in a 60l seem that i cant have plants in my jardini tank i filled his one with them it has a 800lph hob filter with matrix .heating by 300 w heater as the tank is outside .

    Wow! I really love this setup. Its got a really natural feel to it. As if you looking thru a window into a river bed somewhere..

    i would use a sump on this setup, make sure its well insulated, almost completely boxed in in thick polystryene, and tucked well away from the elements, then keep the heater in that sump. that should help a bit with the heating on this one as the heat losses would be a lot less and you'd also get better water volume for retaining heat too... you could even insulate the inlet and outlet pipes..

    Thanks for comments

    Algae is a issue in this tank and it needs a full clean once a week to get rid of it .I'm not sure what to put in there to help mabe some guppies or an otto .you guys can advise I was hoping the plants would out compete the algae but I guess the sun is just to sting a light source lol. as for setup I like this as a basic setup nice and easy and the one heater keeps the temp constant so no problem there . The rain does my top ups and water changes for me

    Put 2 x ottos in the tank they love algae it will be chowed by these little dudes, you wont be disappointed in them.

    Yup . Make no mistake he rules the tank .My son calls it Enting and keeps asking me when I'm going to get Enting some girl friends . So if any one know s where to get some females please let me know .

    So I took the mrs for brekfast at Clearwater , popped in to the Lfs and surprise surprise I got 2 ottos and 2 little creatures we do not discuss . Hooray should fix the algae problem ...

    Apparantly there is an otto breader in JHB so you guys should be pretty sorted for them.
