6 foot smashed

Well as you can see my tank burst. Bought this tank for my flat at varsity on 3rd floor. Removed some ugly glass panel and clearly it surved as bracing. Im going to sell some stuff maybe even the glass from this tank to surve as funding for the rebuild or new tank. Will keep you posted.

 

Selling cascade 1000 needs new o ring with brand new ceramic rings and carbon for 550. Got a quote to put new panel with bracing and reseal for 1800.

Sorry man. How did you remove the pice of glass and where about on the tank was it.

 

4 tetras testing water. Neighbour told me they were swimming in the coridoor. And was a slider about 10cm from top of tank

 

how thick is the glass?, any way you can replace the front and the brace?

Yes for front panel its gonna cost me 1800 re sealed and bracing on top and bottom. Willing to sell the glass for 1500 if anyone wants it as a project and 10mm glass and double 10mm base. Only lost 4 tetras

Definitely try again glad it was not my big tank thats why im selling stuff. Student budget does not allow for instantaneous repair.

Tell us more of the story, please @Michael11! Did you lose any electronics, any worries about shock?

Did the 'ugly' piece of glass run the full length of the tank or was it in the middle on the width of the tank?

Sorry bud, that is a disaster, lucky you did not have any of you big boys/girls in there!

 

Oh and dude, that job can't cost you more than R500-R600! Buy the front panel and a extra support bracing piece, some silicone. Cut off the old pieces and on with the new, give it two days and you are set to fill her again to the brim! There are some pretty cheap glass places up there in your parts, you could even go cheaper, I know, I order from there

 

Ouch bud I feel your pain, but just wandering why did you remove the bracing, I would be interested in the glass but that is a bit steep at the moment as I'm of to Durban in August.
